Donut Palace is a longtime Monticello donut shop on North Main Street, just a few minutes from Lake Cumberland. Locals have been starting the morning here for years — glazed yeast donuts, cake donuts, cinnamon rolls, eclairs, and the apple fritters people drive across Wayne County for. The shop recently changed hands to new owners, but the early-morning bakery feel is the same. Cases fill before most of town is awake. Grab a single, a half dozen, or a mixed dozen. Premium trays cover cinnamon rolls, apple fritters, eclairs, maple creme, maple nut creme, and caramel cream. Coffee, cappuccino, hot chocolate, juice, and fountain drinks sit on the side.
